Director Anurag Kashyap is all set to return with an intense, emotionally-driven crime drama titled ‘Nishaanchi’, which will release in theatres on September 19.
Known for his gritty storytelling and layered narratives, Kashyap revealed that the script for Nishaanchi had been ready since 2016 but he waited until the right studio backed his vision without compromise.
According to a UNI report, Kashyap shared, “Amazon MGM loved it, believed in it, and became the wall behind us. This is exactly what happened with all my films that people love — they were backed by great producers and great studios.” The film is produced under the banner of Jar Pictures in association with Flip Films, with Ajay Rai and Ranjan Singh backing the project.
‘Nishaanchi’ delves deep into the lives of two brothers whose differing paths unravel the raw edges of human emotions — love, guilt, betrayal, and survival. “It’s a story full of raw human emotions, love, lust, power, crime and punishment, betrayal, redemption, and the consequences of it all,” Kashyap said. “I have been extremely fortunate to find a bunch of good people, superb actors, and my most beautiful crew to tell this story in the best possible way that I would have wanted.”
Marking her acting debut, Aishwarya Thackeray plays a significant role in the film. She is joined by a strong ensemble cast including Vedika Pinto, Monica Panwar, Mohammad Zeeshan Ayyub, and Kumud Mishra, whose performances are expected to lend emotional depth and power to the film’s complex world.
With its rich mix of psychological realism and cinematic intensity, ‘Nishaanchi’ promises to explore the dark crevices of the human psyche and moral dilemmas in a way that only Kashyap’s filmmaking can. As the countdown to its release begins, the film is already drawing attention for its bold themes and raw treatment.
