Bodhitree Multimedia Ltd, Madlab Films, and Universe of Ideas have joined forces to launch Madlab Alpha Private Limited, India’s first high-concept content studio.
This newly announced studio is positioned to redefine how films and premium OTT content are created, with a clear focus on unconventional narratives that challenge the industry’s creative norms.
According to an official press release shared by Bodhitree Multimedia, Madlab Alpha is being envisioned as a creative launchpad for storytellers unafraid to experiment. At a time when Indian cinema is increasingly criticized for its formula-driven plots and declining innovation, Madlab Alpha enters the frame with a mission to back bold, genre-defining voices. With this new venture, the partners aim to foster a fresh wave of narratives—ones that are ambitious in concept and fearless in execution.
The alliance merges Madlab Films’ storytelling flair, Bodhitree’s sharp business strategy, and Universe of Ideas’ deep-rooted talent development ecosystem. Together, they promise to usher in a future-forward studio model that embraces emerging technology, supports diverse talent, and breaks free from traditional creative boundaries. Madlab Alpha is not just a studio—it’s being positioned as a creative ecosystem, where emerging voices will be mentored, experimental formats will be welcomed, and storytelling will be pushed to its limits.
Madlab Alpha is already developing a rich slate of content, including cerebral thrillers, speculative dramas, dystopian narratives, and immersive storytelling experiences. Its projects are designed to be global in appeal while being rooted in strong, original Indian voices. The studio also plans to integrate AI-assisted production tools and immersive technologies to deliver content that balances innovation with scale.
Gaurav Shukla, creator and producer of Asur, and Abhijeet Khuman from Madlab Films, spoke about the rise of global storytelling tastes among Indian audiences. “We’re seeing viewers move toward bold, layered narratives. With Madlab Alpha, we want to bring stories to life that others hesitate to touch. We want to merge tech with creativity and redefine how stories are told in this country,” they said.
Echoing this, Darshana Bhalla, Founder & CEO of D’Artist Talent Ventures and Universe of Ideas, emphasized the vision to empower emerging creators. “This is about giving creators a platform where their originality and vision matter. We’re investing in the future of storytelling by mentoring voices that might otherwise go unheard,” she shared.
Mautik Tolia, MD of Bodhitree Multimedia, called the venture a turning point for Indian content. “Madlab Alpha is our leap into the future. This is not just about creating content—it’s about building a globally relevant, scalable storytelling hub,” he said.
The collaborators behind Madlab Alpha come with a proven track record. Madlab Films delivered the successful Asur, while Bodhitree gained acclaim with shows like The Gone Game and Class. Universe of Ideas, meanwhile, stems from D’Artist Talent Ventures and is known for its work in IP creation and talent management.
With Madlab Alpha Private Limited now officially launched as a subsidiary of Bodhitree Multimedia Ltd, the industry is watching closely to see how this bold new studio transforms the rules of Indian filmmaking and OTT content creation.
