Actor Shweta Tripathi, best known for her roles in ‘Mirzapur‘, ‘Masaan’, and ‘Haramkhor’, is set to make her debut as a producer with a groundbreaking queer love story.
The upcoming film, centered around the love between two women, marks a bold and heartfelt step in Indian cinema’s evolving portrayal of LGBTQIA+ narratives.
Initially attached to the project solely as an actor, Tripathi was so deeply moved by the story that she decided to back it as a producer. Speaking about her decision, she expressed her excitement about championing a narrative that brings authentic queer representation to the forefront.
“I’ve always been drawn to stories that are honest, raw, and push boundaries. When I read this script, I knew I had to be a part of it—not just as an actor, but as a producer who can ensure that the story is told with the sensitivity and depth it deserves,” Tripathi said in a statement.
While details about the film’s director and co-stars remain under wraps, the project has already generated buzz for its promise to portray a nuanced and emotional same-sex love story—something still rare in mainstream Indian cinema.
Tripathi, who has built a reputation for choosing unconventional and thought-provoking roles, hopes the film will contribute to greater inclusivity and representation on screen. “Love stories should reflect all shades of love. Cinema has the power to inspire change, and I hope this film helps normalize queer love stories in India.”
With her first venture as a producer, Shweta Tripathi is not just adding another feather to her cap but also paving the way for more inclusive storytelling in Bollywood.
