Noted Indian industrialist Ratan Tata has picked up an undisclosed percentage of stake in Pritish Nandy Communications (PNC), a content production company.
“Ratan Tata Chairman Emeritus of Tata Sons and Chairman of Tata Trusts, has, in his personal capacity, acquired a stake in Pritish Nandy Communications Ltd through market purchases last week,” PNC said in a regulatory filing with BSE.
The Pritish Nandy-founded company added that Tata invests in start-ups and technology companies, but did not disclose the stake size of Tata.
The promoters of PNC hold 50.73 percentage, while other investors together have 49.27 per cent.
Pritish Nandy Communications is one of the first corporate entities in Bollywood. Founded by Pritish Nandy, well-known poet and journalist, PNC has been professionally managed from its very inception.
It was one of the first media and entertainment companies to go public in 2000, when it listed on India’s BSE and the NSE. According to the company website, global funds like Soros, Oppenheimer, Alliance and Lloyd George hold PNC stock.
Founded in September 1993, PNC began as a TV content boutique and its first show, The Pritish Nandy Show, was one of the early signature chat shows of Indian TV. In 2000, Morgan Stanley led its public offering.
