Neela Film Productions, producers of popular TV show ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’(TMKOC), has expanded into gaming and animation segments and has earmarked an investment of ’24 crore to grow the business, its founder Asit Kumar Modi said.
“In addition to gaming and animation, we also see potential in exploiting this IP (intellectual property of TMKOC) for ecommerce and films,” said Modi, who started the content production company in 1995, Economic Times reported.
Gaming and animation businesses will be housed under a new company called Neela Mediatech, he said.
The company has launched 15 games, in addition to YouTube channels, in multiple Indian languages featuring animated content targeted at children. The games have already garnered 5 million downloads, while the YouTube channels have amassed 1.5 million subscribers.
