Disney+ Hotstar has made an important appointment to boost its advertising efforts, with Dhruv Dhawan joining as the new Head of Ads, according to reliable sources.
Dhruv Dhawan will be taking over from Shalini Poddar, who previously served as the EVP & Head of Ad Sales at Disney+ Hotstar. Poddar had left the company a few months ago to assume the role of Country Director at Apple Services.
In his new role, Dhawan will be tasked with driving advertising revenues for Disney+ Hotstar. He will also be responsible for developing a long-term vision and defining the strategic direction of the sales organization, aiming to propel the platform’s advertising success, Sources reported.
Dhruv Dhawan brings a wealth of experience to the table, with over two decades in the fields of Communications, Digital Evangelism, and Consulting. Currently, he serves as the Industry Lead at Google for Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) and Direct-to-Consumer (D2C) Brands, where he has made significant contributions during his nine-year tenure.
Prior to his time at Google, Dhawan worked with Bharti Airtel, where he held leadership responsibilities and oversaw the Profit & Loss (P&L) management for the Machine-to-Machine (M2M) business in India.
With his diverse background and proven track record, Dhruv Dhawan is expected to play a pivotal role in the growth and success of Disney+ Hotstar’s advertising ventures, further solidifying the platform’s position in the competitive market.
