Due to rising ‘content costs’, Google-owned YouTube has raised the price of its TV subscription from $64.99 per month to $72.99 per month.
On Thursday, the company announced the update on Twitter via its YouTube TV account: “An update for our subscribers. As content costs have risen and we continue to invest in our service quality, we will increase our monthly cost from $64.99 to $72.99 after three years to provide you with the best possible TV service.”
The new member price increase started on March 16, while the existing member price increase begins on April 18, according to an IANS report.
Furthermore, the company announced that the price of their 4K Plus add-on will be reduced from $19.99 per month to $9.99 per month. This is the first price increase for YouTube TV in three years.
The service debuted in 2017 at $35 per month, and the price for YouTube TV services will increase from $49 to $64.99 per month in July 2020.
“We are committed to providing a premium way for you to stream TV, but we recognize that this new price may not be suitable for you. We hope YouTube TV remains your preferred service, but we want to give you the option to cancel at any time, ” the company stated in a tweet.
