On a day that would have the TV news channels on an overdrive because of the presentation of the country’s annual Budget by the government, more than two dozens channels went on the blink in the evening owing to a satellite outage, an industry association said Tuesday.
The news channel went off air from 6.30 pm “due to a satellite outage because of a radio frequency interference”, News Broadcasters Federation (NBF) said in a statement late in the evening after having scrambled to get in touch with the authorities and service providers like a satellite operator.
NBF said it was “working with relevant stakeholders on a war-footing” to ensure the broadcasting services are back at the earliest.
“We assure ardent news channel viewers, advertisers and our distribution partners, including local cable TV operators, and multi-system operators, that we aim to have the service back.
“We thank PlanetCast Media, Tata Communications, Intelsat and Indian Space Research Organisation in taking up the issue on priority and working on it,” the Federation statement said.
