Hollywood actor Tom Hanks is set to return to Broadway with the play ‘This World of Tomorrow’ in autumn 2027. He will star alongside Tony Award-winning actress Kelli O’Hara in the production, which will be staged at a Shubert theatre in New York.
The exact venue is yet to be announced. According to a PTI report, the play is written by Hanks and James Glossman and will be directed by Tony Award-winning director Kenny Leon.
The production will mark Hanks’ return to Broadway after more than 14 years. He last appeared on Broadway in the play ‘Lucky Guy’ in 2013, for which he received a Tony Award nomination.
‘This World of Tomorrow’ is based on a series of short stories written by Hanks. The play follows Bert Allenberry, a scientist living in the late 21st century who travels back in time in search of love and tries to change his future.
The play had a sold-out eight-week run at The Shed in New York in 2025, with Hanks and O’Hara in the lead roles.
The upcoming Broadway production will bring the story back to the stage for a wider audience.
