Chennai Comic Con will return on January 16 and 17. Presented by Maruti Suzuki and powered by Crunchyroll, the event will bring together artists, creators, cosplayers and pop-culture fans for two days of activities and entertainment.
According to a Comic Con India press release, the event will celebrate comics, anime, gaming, cosplay and other aspects of pop culture. Comic Con India, a subsidiary of NODWIN Gaming, will offer fans opportunities to meet international guests, interact with creators, discover new stories and enjoy live music, stand-up comedy, gaming arenas and fan zones.
Shefali Johnson, CEO of Comic Con India, said the strong response from Chennai fans at the previous edition encouraged the organisers to return to the city. She highlighted Chennai’s rich cultural heritage, artistic communities and strong connection with creativity and pop culture.
Akshat Rathee, Co-founder and Managing Director of NODWIN Gaming, said Chennai has a long-standing connection with storytelling and comics, along with growing communities around anime, manga, gaming and global pop culture. He added that Comic Con would give fans an opportunity to meet like-minded people, discover new interests and celebrate their favourite characters and stories.
The previous edition of Chennai Comic Con attracted more than 45,000 fans and featured comic book writer Ron Marz, known for his work on ‘Green Lantern’, ‘Silver Surfer’, ‘Witchblade’ and the DC vs. Marvel crossover series.
The upcoming event aims to build on the response to the previous edition and bring Chennai’s pop-culture community together for another celebration of fandom.
