Abhijeet Sawant, the winner of the first season of ‘Indian Idol’, is set to return to the iconic stage on Sony Entertainment Television’s ‘Indian Idol Legends Return’. His comeback promises a nostalgic musical experience as he reunites with fellow Season 1 contestant Amit Sana and judge Himesh Reshammiya.
Welcoming Abhijeet back, Season 1 runner-up Amit Sana expressed his admiration for the singer, saying, “Abhijeet Sawant ke bina Indian Idol can never be Indian Idol.” His words reflect Abhijeet’s special place in the show’s history and the lasting bond between artists who began their musical journeys on the platform.
Adding to the excitement, Himesh Reshammiya enthusiastically declared, “Ab banega yeh show blockbuster.” Abhijeet then captivated the audience with a soulful rendition of Har Kisi Ko Nahi Milta Pyaar Zindagi Mein, bringing back memories of his journey on the show.
Praising Abhijeet’s contribution to ‘Indian Idol’ and his impact on music lovers, Himesh said, “Abhijeet Sawant ke liye main yahi kehna chahunga, Indian Idol ka karz chukaya aapne, dhamaka machaya aapne, aashique banaya aapne.” His words acknowledged the singer’s contribution to the show and the lasting impression he has made through his music.
Reflecting on his return, Abhijeet said the stage brought back a rush of emotions, taking him back to the nervousness, hopes and dreams he had when he first appeared on the show two decades ago.
“Winning the title gave me my identity, but more than that, it blessed me with the love of millions of people, a love that remains my greatest anchor today,” he said.
Abhijeet added that returning to ‘Indian Idol Legends Return’ was about more than reliving old memories. For him, it was an opportunity to celebrate his two-decade bond with the audience and give them his best once again. Calling the stage his true home, he said the experience felt like coming full circle.
Produced by Fremantle, ‘Indian Idol Legends Return’ brings iconic voices back to the stage through reunions and performances that revisit a defining era in Indian music. The show celebrates the artists, journeys and memorable moments that have shaped the franchise’s legacy.
‘Indian Idol Legends Return’ premieres on 17 Oct, airing every Saturday and Sunday at 8pm on Sony Entertainment Television.
