Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju said India is one of the fastest-growing major economies and stressed that the benefits of this growth should reach the next generation.
According to a Times Network press release, Rijiju made the remarks at the Times Now Amazing Indians Awards 2026 in New Delhi. He also spoke about freedom of expression and said that people in a democracy can have different opinions, thoughts and beliefs.
Rijiju said that if any section of society does not feel part of India’s growth story, it is the government’s responsibility to bring them along. He also said that debates and different views are part of democracy.
The Union Minister further highlighted the growing role of media, social media and artificial intelligence in the coming years. He said the challenge is to continue India’s growth and pass its benefits on to future generations.
At the event, Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe received the Special Recognition for Public Service.
The Adani Presents Times Now Amazing Indians Awards 2026 honoured changemakers working across areas including animal welfare, disability support, education, environment, healthcare, rural development, social innovation and women and child development. Abhijeet Anand Pokharnikar also received a Special Jury Mention in Education and Learning.
