‘Mirzapur: The Movie’, starring Ali Fazal, Divyenndu and Pankaj Tripathi, has crossed the Rs 170 crore mark at the domestic box office.
According to a PTI report from New Delhi today,the film, which was released in theatres on September 4, marks the first big-screen outing for the ‘Mirzapur’ universe. The franchise began as a streaming series in 2018 and went on to become one of India’s most popular OTT franchises with three seasons.
‘Mirzapur: The Movie’ has earned Rs 177.44 crore gross at the domestic box office.The film had a strong start at the box office, earning Rs 30.90 crore on its opening day. It collected Rs 38.40 crore on Saturday and Rs 43.05 crore on Sunday, taking its opening weekend collection to more than Rs 100 crore.
The movie returns to the world of ‘Mirzapur’, where the fight for power continues through rivalries, betrayals and violence. The story is set in 2018 and explores an untold chapter from the first season of the popular series.
‘Mirzapur: The Movie’ brings several familiar faces from the franchise to the big screen, including Ali Fazal, Divyenndu and Pankaj Tripathi. The film’s strong box office performance marks a successful theatrical transition for the popular OTT franchise.
