TV Today Network has announced two key editorial elevations, appointing Geeta Mohan as Group Editor-Foreign Affairs and Akshita Nandagopal as Executive Editor-Output, India Today TV, with Nandagopal taking charge of the Output team.

Mohan, who has been with the organisation for several years, has reported from conflict zones including Afghanistan, Ukraine and Iran, and has helped take India Today’s foreign affairs coverage to the international stage.

Her work, according to information provided by the India Today Group yesterday, has included high-profile interviews with world leaders and policymakers.

Among her prominent interviews are those with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

The organisation said her interviews have made news globally and earned widespread acclaim. Her interview with Putin drew 1.2 million concurrent live viewers during the broadcast, according to the note.

Mohan has also been working since last year on India Today Global, a multiplatform venture focused on analysing the rapidly changing dynamics of world politics.

The organisation said her elevation comes at a time when the geopolitical landscape makes the initiative particularly relevant and that she will take the venture forward.

Nandagopal, who joined the organisation in 2019, will now lead the Output team.

The organisation described the elevation as an example of recognising and developing talent from within, citing her editorial judgement, hands-on leadership and commitment to the newsroom.

In her new role, Nandagopal will work closely with Samkhya Edamaruku, Group Managing Editor-Production, to ensure seamless coordination between the Output and Production teams. She will report to Editorial Director Supriya Prasad.

The organisation said the two elevations reflect the depth of talent within its newsroom and its focus on nurturing and promoting talent from within.
