‘Main Vaapas Aaunga’ has recorded 16.14 million unique viewers on Netflix during its opening five-day streaming window from August 7 to 11, according to Chrome DM COTT, India’s OTT audience measurement platform.
The film is directed by Imtiaz Ali and stars Diljit Dosanjh, Naseeruddin Shah, Vedang Raina and Sharvari. The period romantic drama is set against the backdrop of the 1947 Partition.
The film began streaming on Netflix on August 7 after a 50-day theatrical run, during which it earned nearly Rs.99 crore worldwide.
Female viewers made up the larger share of the film’s Netflix audience, accounting for 9.72 million viewers, or 60 percent of the total. Male viewers contributed 6.42 million, or 40 percent.
The largest audience group was women aged 25–35, with 4.11 million viewers. This was followed by women aged 18–24 with 3.44 million viewers and men aged 25–35 with 2.98 million.
The 25–35 age group was the strongest overall, with male and female viewers together contributing 7.09 million, or around 44 percent of the film’s total reach.
Punjab recorded the highest viewership among the individually tracked markets, with 3.85 million viewers. Delhi NCR followed with 2.92 million.
Together, the two markets contributed 6.77 million viewers, or around 42 percent of the total audience.
Maharashtra recorded 2.18 million viewers, followed by Uttar Pradesh at 1.57 million and Karnataka at 0.72 million. Other markets contributed 4.90 million viewers.
On devices, mobile viewing accounted for 7.78 million viewers, while connected TVs (CTV) contributed 3.72 million. Around 4.64 million viewers watched the film across both mobile and CTV.
Pankaj Krishna, Founder and CEO of Chrome DM, said the film shows how a movie that builds momentum through word of mouth in theatres can find a strong audience on streaming.
He also highlighted the strong response from Punjab and the higher share of female viewers, particularly women aged 25–35.
