Prime Video will premiere the second season of ‘Batman: Caped Crusader’ on July 31, with all 10 episodes of the animated series releasing simultaneously in more than 240 countries and territories, the streamer said.
The streamer also announced ‘Batman: Caped Crusader – Chronicles’, a video game that will launch on July 31 to coincide with the series’ Season 2 premiere.
Meanwhile, the new season of the ‘Caped Crusader’ will see Batman continue his fight against crime in Gotham City while introducing fan-favourite characters, including Edward Nygma, also known as The Riddler, Carrie Kelley, Roxy Rocket and The Joker. The latter will be voiced by actor Matthew Needham.
Amazon, in a statement earlier this week, said the series follows billionaire Bruce Wayne in his early years as Batman, waging a relentless one-man war on crime after being shaped by personal tragedy.
The second season takes viewers deeper into Gotham City’s criminal underworld as the story expands with new allies and adversaries.
The voice cast includes Hamish Linklater as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Eric Morgan Stuart as Commissioner Jim Gordon, Michelle C. Bonilla as Renee Montoya, Krystal Joy Brown as Barbara Gordon, Jason Watkins as Alfred Pennyworth, Jamie Chung as Harleen Quinzel/Harley Quinn and Needham as The Joker, alongside an ensemble cast.
The animated series is a reimagining of the Batman mythology from executive producers J.J. Abrams, Matt Reeves and Bruce Timm.
Based on DC characters, it is produced by Warner Bros. Animation, DC Studios, Bad Robot Productions and 6th & Idaho, with James Tucker, Geoffrey Thorne, Sarah Geismer, Rachel Rusch Rich and Sam Register also serving as executive producers.
Amazon said viewers can stream the first season of ‘Batman: Caped Crusader’ on Prime Video ahead of the second season’s debut.
