Apple TV has released its new sports comedy film, ‘The Dink’, for streaming on July 24.According to an Apple TV press today, the film follows the story of Dusty Boyd, a former tennis prodigy whose career has faded.
Now working as a children’s tennis coach at his father’s country club, Dusty struggles to earn his father’s approval while resisting the growing popularity of pickleball.
After an old injury prevents him from playing tennis, Dusty reluctantly gives pickleball a chance as part of his recovery. With the support of his new playing partner, Candace, he begins to enjoy the sport and finds himself caught between his past as a tennis player and a new chapter in his life.
As Dusty faces old rivalries and personal challenges, he is drawn into a battle to protect his father’s country club while rediscovering his confidence and identity.
‘The Dink’ stars Jake Johnson in the lead role alongside Ed Harris, Mary Steenburgen, Patton Oswalt, Chloe Fineman, Chris Parnell and Aaron Chen.
Former tennis star Andy Roddick and producer Ben Stiller also make appearances in the film.The comedy is produced by Ben Stiller, directed by Josh Greenbaum and written by Sean Clements.
