Prime Video has announced a feature-length documentary on award-winning singer-songwriter Lily Allen that will stream globally in 2027, charting her life and career from her early years through the recent success of her album ‘West End Girl’.

The biographical documentary will offer what Prime Video described as an intimate portrait of the global music icon, tracing her journey from the ‘Queen of MySpace’, who changed the rules of the music industry, to the cultural force she is today.

The film will also examine how Allen’s sharp wit and candid storytelling helped pave the way for a generation of leading female artists.

It will feature interviews with people who know her best and present what the company called a rich and revealing portrait of an artist defined by creative fearlessness.

According to the official statement from Amazon yesterday, the documentary is “a story of resilience, reinvention, and an artist reclaiming her narrative on her own terms”.

It added: “This is Lily Allen as she’s never been seen before. Raw, real, and redefining what it means to thrive in the spotlight.”

Prime Video said the announcement follows Allen’s return to music with ‘West End Girl’, which it said has been widely cited by critics as one of the most talked-about and culturally impactful album releases in recent years.

The documentary is directed by award-winning filmmaker Mat Whitecross, best known for the music documentaries ‘Oasis: Supersonic’ and ‘Coldplay: A Head Full of Dreams’, and is co-produced by Magna Studios and Mint Pictures.

While the film is scheduled to launch globally on Prime Video in 2027, an exact release date has not yet been announced.
