NTO 2.0: Star India announces new RIO for GEC, sports channels

Star defers launch and renaming of TV channels

Disney-owned Star TV Network on Friday announced its up-to-date Reference Interconnect Offer (RIO) in compliance with NTO 2.0 of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India.

The new RIO will be effective from December 1 2021 and is subject to the outcome of the NTO 2.0 case in the Supreme Court.

The network priced 13 of its 46 Standard Definition (SD) TV of GEC and sports channels above Rs.12 are not to be included in a bouquet.

These include Star Plus (Rs 23), Star Jalsha (Rs 23), Star Parvah (Rs 19), Maa TV (Rs 23), Star Vijay (Rs 19), Asianet (Rs 23), Star Suvarna (Rs 15), Star Sports 1 (Rs 23), Star Sports 1 Hindi (Rs 21), Star Sports 1 Tamil (Rs 17), Star Sports 1 Telugu (Rs 19), Star Sports Select 1 (Rs 23), and Star Sports 1 Kannada (Rs 17).

Similarly, 20 of its 32 High Definition (HD) TV of GEC and sports channels above Rs. 12 were also be not included in a bouquet.

These include Star Plus HD (Rs 25), Star Gold HD (Rs 19), Star Jalsha HD (Rs 25), Jalsha Movies HD (Rs 19), Vijay HD (Rs 25), Star Suvarna HD (Rs 21), Asianet HD (Rs 25), Star Movies HD (Rs 21), Disney International HD (Rs 15), Star Sports HD1 (Rs 25), Star Sports 1 HD Hindi (Rs 25), Star Sports Select HD1 (Rs 25), Star Sports 1 Tamil HD9 (Rs 21), Star Sports 1 Telugu HD10 (Rs 21), Maa HD (Rs 25), Man Movies HD (Rs 19), Star Pravah HD (Rs 21), Star Kirano HD12 (Rs 15), and Asianet Movies HD15 (Rs 19).

The network is also planning to launch 16 new channels between December and January, which will take the total number of channels to 78 from 62. The new launches channels are Star Gold Romance, Star Gold Thrills, Jalsha Josh, Pravah Pictures, Star Kirano, Star Movies Select, and Super Hungama (replacing Marvel HQ). The new HD launches include Star Gold 2 HD, Star Sports 1 Tamil HD, Star Sports 1 Telugu HD, Disney Channel HD, Star Kirano HD, Pravah Pictures HD, Vijay Super HD, Asianet Movies HD, and Hungama HD.

Star Network has created 32 bouquets that exclude the driver sports and entertainment channels. It has created Star Value Pack (SVP) bouquets for SD and HD channels across Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, and Odia languages.

The network also has Star Premium Pack (SPP) bouquets like Disney Kids Pack and Disney Hungama Kids Pack with the MRP range of Rs. 5 to Rs. 25.

The SVP HD bouquets have a price range of Rs 21 to 37 with the network’s highest bouquet SPP Lite of Rs. 40.
